Product Safety Alert – Holiday Gift Daily #63
Traditionally, the end of the year is a time of conviviality and togetherness. Giving presents is an undeniable part of this. But what should you pay attention to when it comes to the safety of these presents? There are still many unsafe products on offer. You do not want your loved-ones to be hurt.
Mega Creative Toy Rattle Owl
Today we draw your attention to a rattle-chew in blue round rigid plastic depicting an owl. The owl's ears and wings are made of white soft plastic and the eyes are drawn. The name of the manufacturer of this owl is called Soma. This toy was confiscated in Lithuania. It comes in a transparent plastic box with rattling elements inside (coloured peas).
The owl has a protruding part. If a child puts the toy in the mouth and falls face down, the protruding part could obstruct the airways, causing choking and injuries around the pharynx or trachea area. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toy Safety Directive and the relevant European standard EN 71-1.
This product was withdrawn from the market and we advice consumers that have already purchased this product to cease using it and contact the dealer or retailer where it was bought.
