Product Safety Alert Holiday Gift Daily #37

Product Safety Alert – Holiday Gift Daily #37

Traditionally, the end of the year is a time of conviviality and togetherness. Giving presents is an undeniable part of this. But what should you pay attention to when it comes to the safety of these presents? There are still many unsafe products on offer. You do not want your loved-ones to be hurt.

Inflatable Swim Ring

Today we draw your attention to an inflatable plastic swimming ring in the shape of a doughnut (donut). The product is large 55 cm and foreseen for children from 3 years old. It is packaged in a plastic bag. The Swim Ring was found in the EU member state Czech Republic.

The description of the risk is of a chemical nature. The plastic material of the product (swim ring and inflation valve) contains an excessive amount of bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), (measured values: up to 15.17% by weight). This phthalate may harm the health of children, causing possible damage to their reproductive system. The product does not comply with the REACH Regulation.

This product was withdrawn from the market and we advice consumers that have already purchased this product to cease using it and contact the dealer where it was bought.
