Product Safety Alert – Holiday Gift Daily #32

Traditionally, the end of the year is a time of conviviality and togetherness. Giving presents is an undeniable part of this. But what should you pay attention to when it comes to the safety of these presents? There are still many unsafe products on offer. You do not want your loved-ones to be hurt.

We are here to keep you up to date on the latest developments in product safety. We monitor closely products that are being withdrawn from the market because of included hazardous parts. On the other hand, we provide information on details you should look out for when purchasing products that are still available.

RENAULT Twizy Quadricycle

Today we draw your attention to the electric quadricycle from Renault. The name of this particular type is 'Twizy'. The affected vehicles were manufactured on 24 and 25 September 2020 (EC-type approval/model e2*168/2013*00001*03, Type X09).

The description of the risk is as follows: improper electric traction reducer may be installed due to a wrong reference in the repair instructions. As a result, the speedometer may indicate 45 km/h while the vehicle is driven with 80 km/h, increasing the risk of injury in the event of an accident. These hazards were found in France. The product does not meet the requirements laid down in the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of two- or three-wheel vehicles and quadricycles.

This product was withdrawn from the market and we advice consumers that have already purchased this product to cease using it and contact the dealer where it was bought.
